All social media promotions are subject to the terms of the relevant social media platform, these Terms, and our Privacy Policy.

4. Content Standards — Universal Requirements
The following standards apply to ALL content submitted to the Portal, regardless of the content type or category. This includes standard listings, banners, social media content, event listings, news articles, donation campaigns, and job postings.

- Content must be submitted in English or Arabic, or both
4.2 Islamic Content Standards — Core Principles
As an Islamic-focused platform, The Believers holds ALL submitted content to strict Islamic ethical standards. The following are absolutely and expressly prohibited across all content channels:
- Content that promotes, facilitates, depicts, or implies haram (prohibited) activities, products, or services of any kind
- Advertising or promotion of alcohol, tobacco, pork or pork-derived products, gambling or games of chance, interest-based (riba) financial products, lottery, or inappropriate entertainment
- Immodest, sexually explicit, suggestive, or indecent imagery, language, or themes
- Content that disrespects, mocks, or disparages Allah (SWT), the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islamic teachings, the Quran, the Sunnah, respected Islamic scholars, or the Muslim community
- Content promoting extremist ideologies, violent jihad, terrorism, sectarian hatred, takfir, or any ideology that incites violence or division within the Muslim community
- Content promoting bid'ah (religious innovation) that contradicts established Islamic scholarly consensus
- Misleading or unsubstantiated claims that products, services, events, or causes are 'Halal', 'Islamic', or 'Shariah-compliant' without adequate basis or required certification
- Content that conflicts with Islamic law (Shariah) as determined by the Company in its reasonable assessment
The Company's determination that content conflicts with Islamic law or these content standards is final. We encourage Advertisers and Contributors with questions about Islamic content compliance to contact us before submitting.
5. Advertising Listing Requirements
In addition to the universal content standards in Section 4, the following requirements apply to each advertising listing category:
5.1 Services
Advertisers must clearly identify the nature of the service, geographic coverage within Australia, applicable fees or pricing, and any professional qualifications, licences, or registrations required by law. Islamic marriage celebrants must hold current civil celebrant registration with the Attorney-General's Department. Service providers must not misrepresent their qualifications or scope.
5.2 Islamic Courses and Education
Listings must accurately describe the course name and content, the qualifications and credentials of instructors, the course duration and mode of delivery (in-person, online, or hybrid), all applicable fees, and any prerequisites. Organisations offering nationally recognised or accredited qualifications must state their registration with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) or the relevant state/territory authority. Quranic and Islamic studies instructors should clearly identify their scholarly background.
5.3 Shops and Businesses
Businesses advertising food, consumables, or personal care products as 'Halal' must hold current Halal certification from a recognised Australian Halal certification body and must be able to provide certification details upon request by the Company or a user. All product claims must comply with the Australian Consumer Law regarding accuracy, pricing, and consumer rights. Businesses must not advertise products that are haram or of doubtful (mashbooh) status without clear disclosure.
5.4 Islamic Events
Event listings must accurately state the event name, date, time, location (or online platform details), organiser name and contact details, a clear description of the event purpose and programme, ticketing arrangements and costs if applicable, and any age restrictions or entry requirements. Events must be lawful under Australian law and compliant with Islamic principles. Events that involve gender-mixed settings contrary to Islamic modesty norms must not be misrepresented as 'Islamic' or 'Shariah-compliant'. The Company reserves the right to request further details about event programmes before approving an event listing.
5.5 Donations and Fundraising
Organisations collecting charitable donations, zakat, sadaqah, or waqf contributions must:
- Be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) or qualify as an exempt religious institution under applicable law, and provide their ACNC registration number upon request
- Comply with all applicable state and territory fundraising legislation and the ACNC governance standards
- Clearly state in their listing the specific purpose of the donation campaign, the intended beneficiaries, the fundraising target, the campaign closing date, and the name and contact details of the responsible organisation
- Ensure that all representations about how funds will be used are accurate and verifiable
- Provide donation receipts where required under Australian taxation law for deductible gift recipient (DGR) donations
- Not collect funds for individuals or causes that involve haram activities, including interest-bearing debt repayment or non-Islamic uses
The Company does not act as a trustee, custodian, or manager of any donated funds. All fundraising obligations remain the responsibility of the organising entity. The Company may remove any donation listing at any time if concerns arise about the legitimacy or compliance of the campaign.
5.6 Jobs and Employment
Job listings must comply with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the National Employment Standards, and all applicable state and territory anti-discrimination legislation. Listings must not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics under applicable law, except where a genuine occupational requirement is established and documented. All advertised remuneration must meet or exceed the applicable National Minimum Wage and relevant modern award rates. Job listings must accurately describe the role, responsibilities, working conditions, remuneration, and the employing organisation.
6. Banner Advertisements and Featured Listings
6.1 Eligibility for Banner and Featured Placements
Banner advertisements and featured listing placements are available exclusively to organisations and businesses whose activities, products, and services are fully consistent with Islamic law. The Company reserves the right to decline any banner booking from an entity whose activities are deemed incompatible with the Portal's Islamic values, regardless of payment.
6.2 Technical Specifications
All banner advertisement creative files must meet the technical specifications published on the Portal's advertising page from time to time, including file format, dimensions, file size limits, and animation restrictions. The Company may request revisions to creative files to meet these specifications before a banner placement is published. Non-compliant files will not be published, and refunds will not be issued for delays caused by non-compliance.
6.3 Content Requirements for Banners
All banner content is subject to the universal Islamic content standards in Section 4 and the general content accuracy requirements. In addition:
- Banners must not use deceptive visual techniques, misleading calls to action, flashing imagery that could cause discomfort, or content designed to resemble system alerts or notifications
- Banners advertising businesses or services must clearly identify the advertiser
- Banners must not link to external websites that contain haram content, even if the banner itself is compliant
6.4 Campaign Management and Cancellation
Banner advertisement placements are booked for agreed campaign periods. Cancellation of a confirmed banner booking before the campaign start date may be subject to a cancellation fee. No refund will be issued for a banner campaign that has commenced unless the Portal is unable to display the advertisement due to a verified technical failure on the Company's part.
7. Social Media Advertising and Promotion
7.1 Consent Requirement
The Company will only promote an Advertiser's content, event, campaign, or news item through The Believers' official social media accounts (including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other agreed platforms) upon receipt of the Advertiser's explicit prior written consent. Consent must specify the content to be promoted, the platform(s) on which promotion will occur, and the agreed promotion period. The Company will not promote content on social media without this consent.
7.2 Content Approval for Social Media
All content intended for social media promotion must be submitted to the Company for review and approval before scheduling. The Company reserves the right to decline, edit, or modify social media promotional content to ensure compliance with:
- The Islamic content standards in Section 4
- The advertising policies and community standards of the relevant social media platform
- The Australian Consumer Law and applicable advertising regulations
- The Company's own editorial standards and community guidelines
7.3 Platform Terms and Third-Party Policies
Social media promotions are subject to the terms and conditions and advertising policies of the relevant platform (e.g., Meta's Advertising Standards, LinkedIn's Advertising Policies). The Company is not liable for the rejection, removal, or restricted reach of social media advertisements by third-party platforms. Advertising fees paid for social media promotions will not be refunded solely on the basis of a platform's restriction or removal of content.
7.4 Withdrawal of Social Media Consent
An Advertiser may withdraw consent for social media promotion at any time by providing written notice to the Company at least 48 hours before the scheduled promotion date. Where promotion has already commenced, the Company will take reasonable steps to cease promotion promptly but cannot guarantee immediate removal from all platforms due to platform scheduling constraints.
8. Community News and Current Affairs
8.1 Submission and Editorial Standards
Muslim organisations may submit community news, announcements, and current affairs articles for publication on the Portal. All news submissions are subject to editorial review. By submitting news content, the contributing organisation:
- Warrants that the content is factually accurate and substantiated at the time of submission
- Warrants that the content is the original work of the submitting organisation or that the organisation holds all necessary rights and permissions to submit it
- Confirms that the content complies with Islamic law and does not conflict with Shariah principles
- Confirms that the content does not defame any individual, organisation, or community group
- Grants the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, display, and distribute the content on the Portal and, where consented, on The Believers' social media channels
8.2 Islamic Compliance for News Content
The Portal will not publish news content that:
- Promotes or glorifies haram activities, organisations, or individuals whose conduct is contrary to Islamic law
- Contains material that is disrespectful to Allah (SWT), the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islamic scholars, or the Muslim community
- Promotes sectarian division, extremist ideologies, or content that could incite animosity within the Muslim community
- Presents speculation, rumour, or unverified claims as established fact
- Reproduces content from unreliable or non-Islamic sources in a manner that endorses that content
8.3 Editorial Discretion and Disclaimer
The Company reserves the sole right to accept, reject, edit (with notice to the contributor), or remove any news content at any time and for any reason. Publication of news content does not constitute the Company's endorsement of the views, opinions, or information expressed. The Company will publish an appropriate disclaimer on news articles where the views expressed are those of the contributing organisation and not the Company.
8.4 News Contributor's Liability
The contributing organisation remains solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and Islamic compliance of all content it submits. The Company shall not be liable for any claim, loss, or damage arising from news content submitted by a third-party organisation, and the contributing organisation agrees to indemnify the Company against any such claims.
8.5 Correction and Retraction
If a news article is found to be inaccurate after publication, the contributing organisation must notify the Company immediately. The Company will take reasonable steps to correct or retract inaccurate content promptly. Persistent submission of inaccurate content may result in suspension of a contributor's news submission privileges.
9. Approval Process and Content Moderation
All content submitted to the Portal — including standard listings, banners, event listings, news articles, donation campaigns, social media content, and job postings — is subject to review and approval by the Company's moderation team prior to publication. We reserve the right to:
- Approve, reject, or request amendments to any submitted content at our sole discretion
- Remove or suspend any published content that violates these Terms, the Islamic content standards, or applicable Australian law, at any time with or without notice
- Request additional supporting documentation before approving content (e.g., Halal certificates, ACNC registration, professional licences, event programme details)
- Reclassify content into a more appropriate category
- Publish an editorial disclaimer alongside any content where the views expressed are those of the contributor and not the Company
Moderation decisions are final. Advertisers and Contributors whose content is declined will be notified with reasons where practicable. Amended content may be resubmitted for further review. The Portal does not guarantee the publication of any content and shall not be liable for loss resulting from the rejection or removal of content.
10. Fees, Payment, and Refunds
10.1 Advertising Fees
Certain services on the Portal — including featured listings, banner placements, social media promotions, and premium event listings — are subject to fees as published on the Portal's pricing page. All fees are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD) inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable under the A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999 (Cth).
10.2 Payment Terms
Payment for paid listings and placements is required in advance and in full before content is published. Accepted payment methods are specified on the Portal. All transactions are processed through a secure third-party payment gateway. The Company does not store credit card details on its servers.
10.3 Tax Invoices
The Company will issue a valid Australian tax invoice for all payments made by registered organisations. Invoices will be emailed to the billing address provided at the time of payment.
10.4 Refund Policy
Refunds may be considered at the Company's discretion in the following circumstances:
- Content was incorrectly declined due to a verified error by the Company
- A significant Portal outage prevented content from being displayed for the full paid period
- A banner campaign cannot be delivered due to a verified technical failure on the Company's part
Refunds will not be issued for content declined or removed due to a breach of these Terms, Islamic content standards, or applicable law. Social media advertising fees will not be refunded solely due to a third-party platform's restriction on the content. All refund requests must be submitted in writing within 14 days of the relevant charge. Our refund practices are subject to consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
10.5 Islamic Finance Acknowledgement
In recognition of the Islamic prohibition on riba (interest), the Company does not charge interest on overdue accounts. However, unpaid fees may result in suspension or removal of active content and termination of the relevant account without further notice.
11. Intellectual Property
11.1 Advertiser and Contributor Content
Advertisers and Contributors retain ownership of the content they submit to the Portal. By submitting any content — including listings, banners, event details, news articles, social media creative, or donation campaign materials — you grant the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to display, reproduce, distribute, and promote your content on the Portal and through The Believers' official social media channels for the agreed period.
For news content, the licence includes the right to display the article for as long as it remains on the Portal and to archive it in accordance with the Company's data retention practices.

If unresolved, either party may refer the matter to an independent mediator agreed upon by both parties. If mediation fails, either party may pursue resolution through a court of competent jurisdiction in New South Wales.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible, without affecting the remaining provisions.
20.3 Waiver
A failure or delay by the Company to exercise any right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
20.4 No Partnership or Agency
Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and the Company. Advertisers, Contributors, and users are independent parties.
